Sally-Anne, Graham and Clarissa joined us for a fortnight in Lagos. They sailed along the coast to Alvor, Albufeira and Portimao. They also took us out by car to see the local inland sights. They subsequently joined us in Antigua and sailed down to Dominica. Most recently they visited us In Thailand.

Jean and Malcolm are old East coast sailing friends who came to Portugal to stay with us. We sailed along the coast with them for a few days. Both Malcolm and Jean are very musical and Lesley took the opportunity to pick Jean's brains about playing the guitar that she has brought with her.

Stuart, Wendy, Tom and Henry came out for a daysail from Lagos. We looked for and found dolphins and then anchored in Ferugada. Most important of all Tom and Henry enjoyed it so much that they spent the afternoon trying to persuade Stuart that he should also buy a boat!

Adam and Emma brought Ryan and Lauren to greet us on arrival in Antigua. Unfortunately our engine needed repairs and they were unable to come sailing with us, but we hope to see them again later in our voyage.

Bunny looking the worse for wear after too many rum punches!

Dave is an old university friend who emigrated to New Zealand in 1973. He came to visit us when we were delayed in Tahiti. He welcomed us when we sailed to New Zealand and showed us around the Bay of Islands.

Dave had been ill for some time and his last holiday was spent with us. He died in April 2009.

We were absolutely delighted to meet up with Townsville sailors David and Ann. We last saw them in England in 1970 before they emigrated to Australia. They recently retired and are considering selling their house and buying a big enough yacht to live aboard while they explore the Queensland coast at their leisure.

Derek is the third ex commodore of the Shotley Point Yacht Club we have met up with during our travels. Shotley Point Yacht Club is a small marina based cruising club on the east coast of England, but the ex commodores certainly get about!

Derek joined us for a few days sailing in Thailand. He now lives with his wife Wan in Thailand but no longer owns a boat.
